Introducing the Motherhood Needs Project!
Parenthood flips life upside down and somehow the actual needs of moms and parents get lost in the shuffle. The Motherhood Needs Project is me saying, “Enough of that.” I am gathering your voices about what you really needed postpartum, a few months in, and when you went back to work, so I can build resources shaped by your lived experiences.
What is the Motherhood Needs Project?
This is not just a survey. It is a listening project.
I am asking moms and parents: What did you actually need in those raw early days? What about a few months in? What about when you had to figure out childcare, pumping at work, or even just remembering your own name again?
Your answers create a fuller picture of parenthood. One that is not only supported by research and my professional training, but also grounded in real, messy, honest voices like yours.
The survey asks about things like:
Mental health and emotional wellbeing
Identity shifts and role transitions
Partner and family support
Community and connection
Everyday stressors and coping strategies
Your words matter. With permission, they could spark blog posts, podcast episodes, or community resources. Your story might even be featured, because lived experiences are worth so much more than just little tips about bouncing back after baby.
Why I Created It
Here is the truth. I am a licensed social worker, a maternal mental health professional, and a mom. That sounds official, but my degrees, certifications, and personal experience only go so far. If I build services only on what I think parents need, that is anecdotal at best. And parents deserve more than “well, in my experience...”
So I am listening. Starting with moms I know and reaching outward, this project validates what I have seen in practice and backs it up with real voices from the community.
It also gives me space to shift focus. Instead of only trading time for one-on-one sessions, I can create resources, conversations, and supports that ripple out to more families. Down the road, it also strengthens my work if I grow my practice in this area. It will not just be rooted in my story, it will be rooted in our stories.
What We Have Heard So Far
Even in the early responses, some big themes are already clear:
Parents are craving emotional support that is accessible and validating
Community and connection matter deeply, but often feel out of reach
Identity shifts, figuring out who you are after parenthood, are proving to be one of the hardest transitions
And this is only the beginning. Every voice sharpens the picture.
The Giveaway
To say thank you for being part of this, I am offering gift card giveaways along the way. Congratulations to our first winner, who won the drawing on 8/31!
If you missed this round, your voice still matters. Every single response helps build a clearer understanding of what parents truly need.
